Horomona Toremi signed Te Tiriti at Ōtaki on 19 May 1840. He was born in the Waikato and joined the migrations to Kāpiti of the late 1820s. He married Amīria.
In 1860 he attended the Kohimarama Conference, where he spoke in favour of the government, saying, ‘I have cast in my lot there. I shall not turn backwards.’
In the 1870s, Toremi was photographed in the cartes de visite style by an unknown photographer. He is pictured fourth from the left in the top row, then again in the fifth portrait on the second row. Toremi died in Horowhenua.
